Out of the Box Theatre Company Presents Evil Dead: The Musical 10/27-10/31

By:

The first thing to know about Out of the Box Theatre Company's production of Evil Dead: The Musical... there is a splash zone. And, unlike at kid-friendly Sea World, this one is for blood. (Plastic ponchos are available for the squeamish.)

This live stage show combines all the elements of the cult classic Sam Raimi horror trilogy -- Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness - while adding in more R-rated humor, buckets of blood, and one of the most ridiculous headless corpses you've ever seen to make one of the craziest theatrical experiences of all time. Five college students go to an abandoned cabin in the woods andaccidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It's all up to Ash, a retail worker turned demon-killing hero, and his trusty chainsaw to save the day. Blood flies. Limbs are dismembered. Demons tell terrible puns... and best of all, it's all set to music.

As musical mayhem descends upon this sleepover in the woods, "camp" takes on a whole new meaning with uproarious numbers like "All the Men in my Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons," "Look Who's Evil Now", "What the F@#k Was That?", and "Do the Necronomicon."

After selling more than 100,000 tickets in Toronto, winning a Tony award in Korea, and being called "the next Rocky Horror" by the New York Times, Evil Dead: The Musical is invading Santa Barbara for its Southern California regional premiere! You don't need to be a fan of Evil Dead to love this show. You don't need to be a fan of horror to love this show. You don't even need to be a fan of musicals to love this show. As long as you like having fun... this show is for you.
