Megan Hilty and Gregory Maguire to Perform at 'Wicked' Benefit, 10/15

Megan Hilty, most recently seen on Broadway's production of '9 to 5 The Musical', will be present at the Muckentaler Cultural Center in Fullerton on October 15 to perform songs from the Tony Award winning musical 'Wicked'. Hilty appeared as Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, in the New York and Los Angeles production, as well as on the National tour of the show.

Also on hand will be author Gregoy Maguire, whose book ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West' was the basis for the Tony Award winning show. Gregory will discuss his other literary works, including ‘Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister.'

Megan Hilty is an actress and singer. She has made guest appearances on various television shows including 'The Closer', 'The Suite Life of Zack and Cody', 'Ugly Betty', 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation', 'Desperate Housewives', and 'Shark'. She can also be heard as the singing voice of Snow White in the animated feature film 'Shrek the Third'. For her role in '9 to 5', Hilty was nominated for the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, the Drama League Award for Distinguished performance, and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical.

'Wicked' is a Tony Award-winning Broadway and West End musical, with songs and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman. The musical premiered at San Francisco's Curran Theatre in May 2003. In October, 2003, the show moved to Broadway's Gershwin Theatre. It was produced by Universal Pictures and directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento. The show was nominated for ten 2004 Tony Awards, winning those for Best Actress (for Idina Menzel), Scenic Design and Costume Design. It has won six Drama Desk Awards

Called "one of the most successful shows in Broadway history" by The New York Times and "a phenomenon that keeps growing" by the Los Angeles Times, 'Wicked' continues to thrill audiences around the world. There are currently eight productions of 'Wicked' worldwide, including two North American tours, a Broadway production, San Francisco production, London production, a Japanese-language production, a German-language production and Australian production.
