Laguna Art Museum Names Rick Baker as New Director of Development

Laguna Art Museum has announced the appointment of Rick Baker as Director of Development. Rick officially joined the museum on Monday, May 18, bringing more than a decade of experience supporting mission-driven arts and cultural organizations through fundraising and partnership development.

Throughout his career, Baker has held fundraising leadership roles with organizations including the San Diego Symphony, Seattle Symphony and Seattle International Film Festival, where he helped secure support from major donors, foundations and corporate partners

Most recently, he served as a development consultant, including work with The Blank Theatre in Los Angeles, where he helped advance initiatives focused on storytelling, youth voices and creative community-building.

A Southern California native, Rick is passionate about the role arts organizations play in strengthening community and creating spaces for connection, curiosity and shared experience.

“We are proud to welcome Rick to Laguna Art Museum,” said Julie Perlin Lee, Director of Laguna Art Museum. “His depth of experience, thoughtful approach to relationship-building and passion for the arts make him a wonderful addition to our leadership team as we continue to expand the museum's impact and engagement.”

As Director of Development, Baker will lead the museum's fundraising strategy, oversee individual, foundation and corporate giving initiatives, and help deepen relationships with supporters, partners and the broader community.

"Laguna Art Museum occupies a unique place in California's cultural landscape, and I'm honored to join the team at such an exciting moment," said Baker. "I look forward to building relationships with our supporters and community partners while helping advance the museum's mission to enlighten and engage people of all ages through art that embodies and preserves the California experience."

Having lived in Orange County previously, Rick is excited to return to the area and become an active member of the Laguna Beach community.
