Hayworth Theatre's SPRING AWAKENING Announces Opening Acts

By:

SPRING AWAKENING, opening in a limited engagement this Friday, July 20th at the Hayworth Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, have announced their opening acts lineup.

Pip, recently featured on Season Two of NBC’s “The Voice,” will take to the stage with a set of his own material a half hour prior to curtain for the 9PM performance on Saturday, July 28th. Similarly, other popular local Los Angeles based singer-songwriters will take the stage on various nights during the SPRING AWAKENING engagement.

Other musicians to perform include Ryan Darton (“I Am A Moth” Album), Alex Davis (“Man of the Year” EP), Eric Schackne (“Hammers & Strings” EP), Daniel Viafore and Oh Travioso (Hayden Bursk).

Friday and Saturday performances are held at 9PM and Sundays will be held at 8PM. Opening acts will take the stage thirty minutes before.

Performer schedule: Ryan Darton (July 20th), Eric Schackne (July 21st), Daniel Viafore (July 22nd), Alex Davis (July 27th), Pip (July 28th), Oh Travioso (July 29th). Further information can be found at http://faceboook.com/springawakeninginconcert

The rock ensemble of SPRING AWAKENING: IN CONCERT is guided by lead guitar Alex Seller. Also featured in the band is Eric Schackne, Rob Gallagher, Adam Stackpole, Fernando Rensi, Jeness Johnson, Morgan Paros & Shanon Michelle. This ensemble of strings and independent rock musicains are plucked from local Los Angeles groups including Back Pocket Memory, Ryan Darton, Young Harry Trumans and Heartstring Pistol.

This rock-infused presentation, helmed by director Kate Sullivan Gibbens, with musical direction by Michael Christopher Luebke, is a theatre-concert hybrid that focuses sharply on music and its story, recalling the energy of an East Village music bar as opposed to a traditional “uptown” venue. Audiences will be left with art in its purist, most unadulterated form: the music, the dialogue, and the message.

The cast includes Kelley Jakle (the upcoming movie "Pitch Perfect") Nathan Parrett (NBC’s "The Voice"), Payson Lewis (NBC’s “The Sing Off”), Olivia Noelle, Anthony Starble, Caitlin Ary, Jonah Platt, Topher Rhys, Jamie Lee Barnard, Jilli Marine, Michael Christopher Luebke, Paul T. Brindley and Alissa-Nicole Koblentz.

SPRING AWAKENING will run from July 20-29, 2012.

Tickets, priced at $25.00, are available at http://www.springawakeninginconcert.com, or through Plays411 at http://www.plays411.net/awakening or by calling (323) 960-7780
