The National Museum of American History will host a private (closed to public) donation ceremony at which ten legends of stage and screen will donate objects from their careers to the Museum's collections.

On Tuesday, January 29 at the historic El Portal Theatre (5269 Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood) donations will be received from Carol Channing, Phyllis Diller, Tippi Hedren, Florence Henderson, Angela Lansbury, June Lockhart, Julie Newmar, Rose Marie and Esther Williams.

The event will feature brief remarks by Museum Director Brent D. Glass, Entertainment Curator Dwight Bowers and the donors will each speak about their careers and the objects that represent their great contributions to American popular culture.

Glen Hanson, an internationally acclaimed designer and illustrator, will be creating artwork for each of the ladies that evening. His work has appeared on MTV, Disney TV, in a variety of publications around the world including Entertainment Weekly, L'Uomo Vogue, Variety, The New York Times and in ads for Sunsilk Shampoo and on the poster for off-Broadway hit, Altar Boyz. You can find out more about him at  www.GlenHanson.com

The Entertainment Collections at the National Museum of American History preserve a dazzling array of artifacts that presents the history of American life through the brightly-colored perspectives of theater, film, radio, television, puppetry, circuses, carnivals, and popular music.
