Cabaret Series Plays LA's La Boheme on Sat., Starting 6/10

By:

La Boheme Restaurant in West Hollywood (located at 8400 Santa Monica Blvd.) will turn into a cabaret the second Saturday of every month, beginning June 10th.

UPRIGHT, an L.A. cabaret having just celebrated its first birthday at Mark's Restaurant will make an extensive move Saturday, June 10th to La Boheme Restaurant, "marking a redefinition of cabaret akin to the ambiance of Baz Luhrman'n's adored film Moulin Rouge," according to press notes. "Each month, the cast of UPRIGHT parade the stage putting the soundtrack of their lives on display for sell-out audiences weaving a 90 minute tapestry of American song."

UPRIGHT is produced and hosted by Shane Scheel and Chris Isaacson. "Cabaret is synonymous with New York City sophisticates, with Liza Minnelli, or the dark, gothic rooms of booze and bawd. But in sunny Los Angeles, Chris and Shane along with Music Director Trapper Felides, have turned it into a hip and contemporary social swirl of young Broadway and young Hollywood together recalling the legendary days of The Rose Tattoo."

Chef Christine Banta's menu and the restaurant's staff will present patrons with several ways to dine including the UPRIGHT Signature Pre-Fixe dinner and show.

In one year, UPRIGHT productions have included cast members from both the Broadway productions and national tours of All Shook Up, Avenue Q, Big River, Brooklyn, Cats, The Drowsy Chaperone, Falsettos, The Frogs, Good Vibrations, Grease, Gypsy, Hairspray, Into the Woods, Jelly's Last Jam, Les Miserables, Lennon, Lion King, Mamma Mia!, Ragtime, Rent, Spamalot, Tommy, and Wicked, as well as familiar faces from TV and film.

Dinner/drink specials begin at 8 PM; showtime is at 10 PM. Admisson is $15 at the door. Reserving a table is recommended; call (323) 848-2360. Visit www.uprightcabaret.com for more information.
