CLOSBC Presents BEEHIVE At Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, Previews 9/15

By:

Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities, Executive Producer James A. Blackman, III and Artistic Director Stephanie A Coltrin proudly present the 1960's Girl Group Musical! BEEHIVE conceived by Larry Gallagher. Opening with previews September 15, 16 & 17 with the Gala Press Opening night on Saturday, September 18 at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. BEEHIVE is the third show of the 2010 Season.

The production will be directed and choreographed by Dan Mojica with Alby Potts serving as Musical Director, and set design by Christopher Beyries.

The BEEHIVE cast includes Broadway veterans: Misty Cotton (Miss Saigon, The Marvelous Wonderettes/Off-Bway), Kamilah Marshall (Rent, Hairspray/Original Cast, The Lion King), Kelli Provart.(Aida/Original Cast) and Karole Foreman (Mama Mia/Las Vegas), as well as Stacy Francis and Tricia Kelly who starred in the award winning BEEHIVE at the El Portal Theatre in 2006.
Big hair is back - and so is the infectious shoo-be-do-wop-wop sound of the girl groups and female singers who rocked radio listeners in the 1960s with hits like "My Boyfriend's Back," "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow," "I Hear a Symphony," "Judy's Turn to Cry" and "Don't Sleep in the Subway." Hailed by the New York Times as "pure, irresistible fun," Beehive is a who's who hit parade of some of the era's biggest divas, from Leslie Gore and The Supremes to Petula Clark and Tina Turner. Whether you're 15 or 50, you'll be on your feet singing and swinging. Silly and serious, funny and phenomenal, this feel-good, fast-paced '60s songfest is all about having a good time. So, grab your Aquanet and go-go boots and get ready to party!

In the past ten years CLOSBC has received the most (4) Best Musical Awards from the OVATIONS. Performances are presented at the 1,445 seat Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, 1935 Manhattan Beach Boulevard, Redondo Beach, California 90278. The Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center is located on the Northeast corner of Aviation and Manhattan Beach Boulevards.
