Annie Potts Leads AFTERMATH at Odyssey Theatre, 2/4

Annie Potts (Designing Women) heads the cast in the World Premiere of AfterMath, Elliott Shoenman's comedic drama about a widow trying to help her children, and herself, deal with the mess her husband left behind when he jumped into the Hudson River. A guest production at the Odyssey directed by Mark L. Taylor.
 
Elliot Shoenman (playwright) is co-founder and Artistic Director of the Inkwell Theater, which has produced eight plays in Los Angeles. He started his career as a writer on Norman Lear's "Maude," won an Emmy for his work as Executive Producer and show runner on "Home Improvement." He's co-author, with Marley Sims, of the play Sunset Park and wrote the plays Moment In The Sun, Old Glories and AfterMath. He's the author of the book "Nobody's Business."

Mark L. Taylor (director) directed three other plays by Mr. Shoenman: Sunset Park, Moment in the Sun and Old Glories. He also directed the premiere productions of Last Call at Moby Dick's by Ed Merrill and The Concept of Remainders by Richard Hirsh. He was nominated for an Ovation Award for his work in Secrets of the Trade at the Black Dahlia Theater.

Annie Potts (Julie) is widely known for her role as Mary Jo on "Designing Women."  She has starred in many television shows, series, and films including  "Any Day Now" (2 SAG nominations for Best Actress in a Drama), "Love and War" (Emmy nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy), "Corvette Summer" (Golden Globe nomination) and "Heartaches" (Canadian Genii for Best Foreign actress). She received her BFA from Stephens College and has many stage credits including Merchant of Venice, Cymbeline, Effect of Gamma Rays, Bus Stop, Love Letters, A Little Night Music and Diva at the Pasadena Playhouse. Last year Ms. Potts made her Broadway debut playing the role of Annette in God of Carnage. Other members of the cast include Meredith Bishop, Michael Mantell and Daniel Taylor.

Linda Toliver and Garry Guidinger (co-producers) have been producing the work of Los Angeles' writers and actors for over two decades. During their 22-year tenure at the Zephyr Theater, which they ran until 2010, they brought in the solo work of Lynn Manning, Luis Alfaro, Michael Kearns, Amy Hill, Eric Trules, Burke Byrnes, Colin Martin, Edie McCurg, and others. They produced world premieres of Justin Tanner's Voice Lessons, starring Laurie Metcalf, French Stewart and Maile Flanagan (LA and New York productions), Procreation, Space Therapy, Teen Girl and Wife Swappers. Other favorites include The Last Session and The Big Voice; God or Merman?, by Jim Brochu and Steve Schalchlin (both plays went on to NY with extended runs), a very special production of The Caretaker starring Robert Mandan, and the outrageous seasonal treat, Bob's Holiday Office Party. They were associate producers on Larry Biederman's sold-out production of La Ronde at the 2009 NY International Fringe Festival, Del Shores' Southern Baptist Sissies, with Leslie Jordan, Dale Dickey and Delta Burke, The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife with Beth Grant, and Sordid Lives, later produced as the popular LOGO television series.
