Travel Around The World In 7 Plays Scenes Set In Italy, Cyprus

After presenting scenes set in locations such as Paris during its opening week, Around the World in Seven Plays presents some new scenes set in locations ranging from Italy to Aphrodite's Rock, Cyprus, in its second and last week.

Around the World in Seven Plays, shows with one acts set in different locations, continued to play March 16-18 at Theater 294, 294 Farmingdale Rd. (Route 109), in East Farmingdale. Performances are Friday March 16 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday March 17 and 18 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 online including the online discount and $17 at the door.

One acts in the second week are set at places ranging from the Sistine Chapel to a bar on Christmas eve in Maine, Manhattan, to New Orleans and other locations. There are different programs or itineraries on different nights with the full list of one acts for each night available by clicking the tickets and itinerary link

Shows in the second week range from Claude Solnik's "Painting the Sistine Chapel" set in Rome to Robert Previto's "The Principle" set in Connecticut.

The idea is to let people see comedies and some dramas that span a wide range of geography in a far-ranging itinerary that mixes travel and theater.

"Places are a big part of our lives," Solnik, one of the playwrights whose work is being presented, said. "The places are settings, but also characters in these one acts."

Travel and theater have a lot in common, he added. They are two ways of taking a voyage. This show beigins each night with a greeting, as if from a flight attendant or pilot before a plane takes off.

"Theater is always a journey," Solnik said. "We've got a lot of really good actors who will take the audience on voyages."

Remaining shows Fri. March 16 at 7:30 p.m.; Sat. and Sun. March 17-18-at 3 p.m. at Theater 294, 294 Farmingdale Rd. (Route 109), East Farmingdale.
