THE WIZARD OF OZ and CINDERELLA Set for The Gateway 2026 Summer Children's Theatre Series

The Gateway Playhouse in Bellport has announced its 2026 Summer Children’s Theatre Series, featuring a lineup of family programming alongside youth performance and training opportunities through The Gateway School for the Performing Arts.
The series will include productions of THE WIZARD OF OZ YOUTH EDITION, JEFF BOYER’S BIG BUBBLE BONANZA, and RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA YOUTH EDITION, with performances scheduled on select weekends throughout the summer.
THE WIZARD OF OZ YOUTH EDITION
Running July 3 through July 18, THE WIZARD OF OZ YOUTH EDITION follows Dorothy and Toto as they travel through Oz, encountering characters including the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion. The production traces their journey to the Emerald City and explores themes of friendship and home.
JEFF BOYER’S BIG BUBBLE BONANZA
Scheduled for August 15 and 16, JEFF BOYER’S BIG BUBBLE BONANZA is a one-performer show combining comedy, music, and bubble-based visual effects. The performance includes interactive elements such as large-scale bubble creations and audience participation.
RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA YOUTH EDITION
Running August 21 through August 30, RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA YOUTH EDITION presents the classic fairy tale with a score by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. The production follows Cinderella’s story through music, dance, and theatrical staging.
Both THE WIZARD OF OZ YOUTH EDITION and RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA YOUTH EDITION are presented through special arrangement with Concord Theatricals and are produced in partnership with The Gateway School for the Performing Arts.
YOUTH PROGRAMS AND TRAINING
The Gateway School for the Performing Arts will offer summer programming designed as multi-day intensives for students of various experience levels. Conservatory Classes will provide audition-based performance opportunities in fully staged productions, with students working alongside professional theater staff.
Enrollment for Summer 2026 is now open, with classes available for students of all ages. The program offers flexible payment plans, scholarship options, and introductory discounts for new students.
AUDITIONS AND OPEN HOUSE
An open house will take place on May 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., offering tours of the Barn Theatre and opportunities to meet faculty and staff. Open-call auditions for Conservatory Classes are scheduled for May 11 beginning at 4:30 p.m. and are open to students entering grades 5 through 12.
