Bay Street Theatre announces their First Annual Honors Benefit on Monday, April 30, with a special performance by Liza Minnelli. This spring fundraiser will be held at the Manhattan Penthouse, 80 5th Avenue in NYC beginning at 6 pm. Proceeds support the theatre's year round programming. Three of Bay Street's Board Members are to be honored.

"Joy Behar, AdriAnne Cohen and John Downing are the first to be honored in this way," says Executive Director Tracy Mitchell. "Adrianne and John, both of whom have been with the theatre for over 20 years, work tirelessly on our behalf, along with Joy, who became a Board Member several years ago."

"The passion and commitment that these Board Members give to us year after year, we couldn't do it without them," says Artistic Director Murphy Davis. "This is one small way we can say 'thank you!'"

Behar's longtime friend, actor/comedienne Susie Essman, ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") along with actor and Bay Street Board Member Richard Kind ("Spin City", "Luck") are among those paying tribute at the event. The evening will be capped off by a special performance by Liza Minnelli. Expected to attend are Bay Street Artistic Associates and guests include Charles Busch, Danny Gerroll & Patricia Kalember, Julie Halston & Ralph Howard, Matt McGrath, Kellie Overbey & Joseph Shane.

"We hope to make this a yearly event," says Mitchell.
