ROCK OF AGES and United Blood Services Team Up Against Severe Need for Summer Blood Donations

By:

Any way you give it, that's the way we need it! This summer, the smash-hit musical ROCK OF AGES is teaming up with United Blood Services of Southern Nevada to tackle the severe need for blood donations. As part of the organization's Summer Thank You Series, anyone who donates blood at any Las Vegas-area United Blood Services location between Monday, Aug. 1 and Sunday, Aug. 7, will receive one complimentary ticket voucher to see The Strip's most radical production live onstage at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. To find your nearest donation location, visit UnitedBloodServices.org/LV.

Once school's out for summer and everyone's out looking for nothing but a good time, the heat rises and so does the need for blood donations. United Blood Services has three convenient community donation centers in the Las Vegas Valley along with easily accessible mobile operations throughout Southern Nevada, providing ample opportunity for qualifying donors to help save lives this summer.

Important Facts & Figures About Blood Donation:

1: 1 in 3 people will need blood at some point in their life

3: Number of lives a single pint of donated blood can save

5: Percentage of people in the U.S. who donate blood

42: Number of days that blood can be safely stored

56 Days: How often a person can give blood

1 Hour: How long it takes, on average, to donate blood

ROCK OF AGES is a hilarious, feel-good love story celebrating the great rock songs of the '80s including such sing-out-loud songs as "Here I Go Again," "We Built This City," "Don't Stop Believin'," "Wanted Dead or Alive," "I Wanna Know What Love Is," and many more. Set in L.A.'s infamous Sunset Strip in 1987, ROCK OF AGES tells the story of Drew, a boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small-town girl, both in L.A. to chase their dreams of making it big and falling in love. ROCK OF AGES takes you back to the times of big bands with big egos playing big guitar solos and sporting even bigger hair! ROCK OF AGES has been called "Impossible to resist!" by The New York Times and "Insanely funny!" by Time Out New York. With more than 3,000 performances on The Las Vegas Strip, ROCK OF AGES continues to electrify audiences nightly at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. For more information, visit RockofAgesVegas.com.

United Blood Services is Southern Nevada's non-profit community blood provider and serves patients throughout the area. The United Blood Services network is one of the nation's oldest and largest non-profit blood service organizations, and is a founding member of America's Blood Centers and the AABB.
