The American Songbook, A 250th Celebration is Spire Chamber Ensemble's spring concert, honoring the nation's 250th anniversary through a musical journey across American history. Under the direction of Founder and Artistic Director Ben A. Spalding, the program weaves together works ranging from Shaker melodies to contemporary compositions, featuring pieces by Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, and Samuel Barber, alongside The Beatles' Blackbird. The Saturday evening performance takes place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kansas City, Missouri. The Allegro Children's Choir Con Brio will join Spire for the Sunday concert at Atonement Lutheran Church in Overland Park.
