It's quite an honor. We are basically telling the story of the Gay Rights Movement through song, poetry, pictures and videos. And it's quite an undertaking."

A confession of a young girl bursting at her welded seams to score big in popularity, this story is filled with the must-haves of every teenage girl's life. With a mother hell bent on God-fearing normalcy, a flaccid father who will bend to her every whim, the fault is not on Mary Sue for what she had to do. At the cost of her friendships, her virginity, her innocence, Mary Sue has been chosen by God. Maybe the conception wasn't so immaculate, but no one important knows that! Until now…

BWW Review: LOVE NEVER DIES at Starlight Theatre
by Alan Portner - August 15, 2018
'Love Never Dies' is absolutely worth seeing.  It is lush.  The voices are beyond exceptional.  Sets, costumes, and effects are haunting. The direction by Australians Simon Phillips and choreography by Graeme Murphy AO completely envelop the space allowed.  The traveling pit orchestra conducted by Dale Rieling is as good as it gets.  There are several, new, show stopping songs and lots of achingly beautiful echoes of the original Phantom score.

BWW Review: THE PRODUCERS at Musical Theater Heritage
by Alan Portner - August 12, 2018
Great theater requires a willing suspension of disbelief.  'The Producers' by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan requires a willing embrace of 1940's Catskill schlock and shtick.  That said, MTH's 'The Producers' is so much inspired silliness, so well performed, and so meticulously put together, it is tough to stop giggling and smirking and groaning at the awful, hysterical, politically in-correct, funny, one-liners.   The Saturday night, Crown Center audience for 'The Producers' thoroughly embarrassed itself and was delighted to do so.

They may be serving up dry martini's in the show, but this  production of Blithe Spirit is a fluid concoction of frenetic farce and frolicking fun. Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward at the Kansas City Actors Theatre in Union Station Kansas City Aug 8-25, 2018 starring Cinnamon Schultz, Margaret Shelby, Coleman Crenshaw, Matt Rapport, Cheryl Weaver, Jan Rogge, & Vanessa Severo
