BWW Review: MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN at Kansas City Actors Theatre
by Alan Portner - September 18, 2018
The characters in Eugene O'Neil's "Moon For The Misbegotten," now being performed by the Kansas City Actors' Theatre at Union Station, are tours de force for serious actors and serious audiences.   The story, while not autobiographical, follows the life path of O'Neil's brother James.  They are, in some ways, similar to the tragic heroes of William Shakespeare and the tortured souls of Tennessee Williams.
BWW Review: ELEGY FOR A LADY at Open Spaces
by Alan Portner - September 18, 2018
“Elegy For A Lady” is a tiny fragment of a play lasting no more than forty minutes, but also an insight into the mind of American playwright Arthur Miller.  Instead of being performed in a traditional theater, Bob Paisley and Heidi Van inhabit their characters inside a tiny lady's boutique in the Crossroads among, rather than in front of, a tiny audience of about twenty people.

A confession of a young girl bursting at her welded seams to score big in popularity, this story is filled with the must-haves of every teenage girl's life. With a mother hell bent on God-fearing normalcy, a flaccid father who will bend to her every whim, the fault is not on Mary Sue for what she had to do. BWW Review: 'ELEPHANT' at THE LIVINGROOM THEATRE A PRODUCTION OF RISING TIDE
by Paul Bolton - September 06, 2018
Two top reasons to see this show: an acting ensemble that delivers the goods, and amazingly perceptive dialogue as smooth as a hot knife slicing butter. Guaranteed to make you laugh and to make you think, this original new play is as current as the headlines from today's news.  Blending the best of ensemble acting and seamlessly written dialogue, this story reveals that the "Elephant" in the living room isn't always what we expect.
