The Barn Players Stage ROCK OF AGES

Get ready for a rabble rousing, foot stomping, silly, thrilling local community theater premiere, when the monster Broadway hit ROCK OF AGES takes the stage at The Barn Players: November 8th through November 18th at The Arts Asylum: 1000 East 9th Street, (off Harrison Street), Kansas City, MO 64106.

Set amidst the electric energy of Hollywood's Sunset Strip, ROCK OF AGES is a big, brash tribute to the over-the-top gritty glamour of 1980's rock n' roll. The plot? Foreign developers plan to turn a fabled hard rock venue into yet another strip mall. Can the club's regulars possibly save the nightspot before it's too late? Can the music of hit bands like Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, and more hold the answer? The score of ROCK OF AGES includes a parade of 'smash 1980's hits, including "I Wanna Know What Love Is," "Here I Go Again," and "Don't Stop Believin'." The show opened Off-Broadway in the fall of 2008 before transferring to Broadway in the following spring, picking up five 2009 Tony Award nominations, including one for Best Musical.

ROCK OF AGES has a book by Chris D'Arienzo; with Music and Lyrics by Various Composers; Arrangements and Orchestrations are by Ethan Popp; The production is overseen by Barn Players Artistic Director Eric Magnus; Musical Direction is by Blake Vignery; Vocal Direction is by Michelle McIntire; and Choreography is by Evan Lovelace. Featured cast members include: Chelsea Angelmyer, Paul Brennan, Trevor French, Jacob Elliott, Dave Fullerton, Taylor Jennings, Ashley Jones, Evan Lovelace, Scott Salem, and Jeff Smith. Ensemble cast support is provided by: Jennifer Abate, Brent Custer, Mikaela Carson, Michael Golliher, Emmy Hadley, Tyler Rene Harper, Christa James, Angela Murphy, Stephanie Palmer, Sabrina Stewart, T.J. Warren, and Miles Wirth.
