Scenic Carpenter (Overhire)

Grand Horizon Theatre is seeking experienced Scenic Carpenters to join our overhire production team for upcoming theatrical productions, concerts, touring performances, and special events. This position is ideal for skilled carpenters who enjoy working in a fast-paced production environment and are passionate about bringing stage designs to life.
Overhire crew members are hired on an as-needed basis for scenic construction, load-ins, technical rehearsals, performances, and strikes. Evening and weekend availability is required.
Responsibilities
Construct, modify, and install scenic elements from technical drawings and designer specifications. Assist with stage load-ins, scenic changeovers, and production strikes while maintaining a safe and organized workspace. Operate woodworking equipment and power tools with attention to quality and safety. Work collaboratively with Technical Directors, Production Managers, Scenic Artists, and Stage Crew to meet production deadlines. Perform routine maintenance and repairs to scenic pieces throughout the performance run.
Qualifications
Applicants should have at least two years of professional experience in theatrical scenery construction, event production, exhibition fabrication, or finish carpentry. Candidates should be comfortable reading construction drawings, using common woodworking tools, and working at heights when required. Experience with stage rigging, steel fabrication, or scenic automation is considered an advantage.
Working Conditions
This position involves lifting heavy scenic components, standing for extended periods, climbing ladders, and working flexible hours that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight load-ins.
