February 22nd from 11 am - 2 pm MST via GoogleMeet from your home. Michael Chekhov’s technique, Psychophysical Gesture, has become a mainstay in my acting practice. Once you have identified your character’s Objective (what they want), and Tactic (how they will try to affect the other person to get it), the psychophysical gesture can help bring that tactic to life in a non-literal way. By working through the gesture with sound, then text, then leaving the gesture to bubble underneath as you deliver the text, your character’s inner world appears without forcing. This workshop is for anyone who has felt they are “just saying words” arbitrarily, and are looking for more specificity and intention in their scenework/monologues. Each participant will have a chance to work 1:1 on their monologue, using Psychophysical Gestures and Tactics to bring further texture and dynamic into their work. Participants will bring in a 1 to 1.5-minute monologue of their choice (or can have one assigned). If needing a monologue assigned, please note that in your registration email with your age range, gender identity and type of roles you go out for typically.
