Alhambra Theatre and Dining Presents 9/11 Tribute Show Tonight

By:

As part of its Alhambra After Dark series, the Alhambra Theatre & Dining will be host a one-night-only performance of "9/11 We Will Never Forget." This one-man show, named by the Orlando Sentinel as a "Best of the Fest" winner at the 2012 Orlando Fringe Festival, is based on the events of September 11th is written and performed by actor and Alhambra Stage Manager, Jason Nettle. Nettle plays 17 New Yorkers who were affected by the day's events in drastically different ways and how they cope with them. This critically acclaimed show is a must-see for anyone who wants to commemorate this fateful day - and for those who were too young to understand it when it happened.

Nettle was living in New York when the planes hit the World Trade Center. A writer and actor, Nettle uses his personal experience along with the accounts of his friends, neighbors and the thousands of details he has researched from personal accounts in the years following, to write a show that pays homage to those we lost and to the stories associated with the day.

States Nettle, "This show is obviously very personal, though it is not designed to be sad. It is educational, inspirational and eye opening to the thoughts and behaviors of those in the City affected by the attack." He adds, "Almost everyone I spoke with or read about swore they wouldn't forget. I set out to help people - all of us - keep that promise. If this show only does that then we have accomplished our goal, but I think it will do more than that. I think, through the eyes of the 17 characters I portray, the audience gets reminded of the entire perspective of what happened."

"When Jason first pitched the show to me, I felt the title was very interesting," said Alhambra Managing Partner Craig Smith. He added, "I learned that the title organically changed to placing a line through "Never" because after the first reading, numerous people approached Jason and reluctantly confessed that they had forgotten.

"They didn't see how this was possible, but in our society of moving forward at a rapid speed, he was able to understand and use these apologies to help move this show forward."

"9/11 We Will Never Forget" is a special one-night only production at the Alhambra as part of its Alhambra After Dark Series. The show is scheduled for tonight, September 9 at 7:30 PM. There will be no dinner service for the show, however the bar will be open. Doors open at 7:00 PM. Tickets are on sale now at the box office and online for $25.
