The Comrade, written by Bob Kelly and directed by Pat Kiernan, is a new play receiving a reading as part of The Everyman's Up Front series during Cork Midsummer Festival. Set against the backdrop of Ireland and Russia, the play explores the final days of an old country and a state on the verge of beginning, drawing on the worlds of Michael Collins and the Romanovs. The reading takes place on the forestage of The Everyman as part of the theatre's commitment to developing new work from commissioned playwrights.
