Gaiety Theatre Announces January-June Schedule

Continuing its run from 2010, Gaiety's glittering production of Aladdin starring Mikey Graham of Boyzone as Abanazar will end on 30th Jan."Nowhere else has the firepower to produce the kind of spectacle the Gaiety puts on". (Irish Mail on Sunday)

Then 1st February will see the first production of the spring / summer season, a hilarious comedy Grumpy Old Women starring Adele King, Una Crawford O'Brien and Flo McSweeney. This is a fabulously funny West End hit, specially re-written for Ireland in 2011.

The first drama in the season will be Druid Theatre's multi award winning production of The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh directed by Garry Hynes. Druid's Gaiety run of The Cripple of Inishmaan is part of a major 21 week tour of Ireland and the USA which includes stops in Boston, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Chicago, Galway and for the first time, to the island of Inis Meáin itself-

The season continues with a chilling new thriller from Bill Kenwright, The Haunting by Charles Dickens starring Paul Nicholas and Charlie Clements of Eastenders fame.

Then all eyes turn to music with the first of the musical events for the season which sees the welcome return of Jim Molloy with his presentation of the classic musical Fiddler on the Roof for three weeks only. The cast includes the legendary Veronica Dunne whose first appearance was with the DGOS as Micaela in Carmen
(Wed 16th Mar- Sat 2nd Apr)

Following the sell out success of Landmark Productions presentation of Ross O'Carroll Kelly's Between Foxrock and a Hard Place, the production will receive a two week revival from 4th April at The Gaiety Theatre.

Two critically acclaimed plays from renowned UK theatre production companies on the Gaiety stage. The first is Out of Joint's The Big Fellah by Richard Bean, directed by Max Stafford Clark. Following this is The Young Vic's critically acclaimed sell-out production of The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh, starring the legendary Rosaleen Linehan and Derbhle Crotty. The production is directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins.

(The Beauty Queen of Leenane: Wed 11th May - Sat 4th June)

The season continues with the welcome return of Willy Russell's musical masterpiece Blood Brothers returning to The Gaiety by popular demand for what promises to be another sell out run of this classic show.

Ending the season with flying feet will be the triumphant Riverdance the world's greatest Irish dance show of all time. This will mark Riverdance's eighth season at The Gaiety Theatre.

It has also been announced that that The Gaiety Theatre will present Robinson Crusoe and the Caribbean Pirates as its annual Christmas Pantomime in 2011, the greatest Pantomime of them all! John announced that the late night clubs which closed in August 2009 recently reopened on Saturday nights following public interest. The event is promoted in association with Red Engine Management and the evening is unique in that it is the only nightclub operating in an elegant Victorian Theatre.
