A double life leads to double the laughs with the Tony Award-winning Tootsie the Musical at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. Based on the famous 1982 film that starred Dustin Hoffman, the musical Tootsie gives the story a fresh, modern twist while asking the question: How far would you go to make your dreams come true? Michael Dorsey is a skilled actor with a talent for not keeping a job. Desperate and out-of-work, Michael makes a last-ditch effort by disguising himself as actress Dorothy Michaels. In a spectacular rise to Broadway stardom, Michael (disguised as Dorothy) soon has audiences enamored while falling for his co-star, Julie. It isn't long before Michael realizes that maintaining his greatest acting success is going to be much harder than he expected. Tootsie won Best Book of a Musical and received a staggering 11 Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. Bringing a whole lot of sass, sparkle, and show-stopping numbers in a wildly funny ride packed with mistaken identities and outrageous situations, Tootsie the Musical ultimately concludes that finding yourself sometimes means being someone else for a while. Jonathan Cobrda makes his Beef & Boards debut in the role of Michael Dorsey. Returning to the Beef & Boards stage are Renee Jackson (Ghost, A Beef & Boards Christmas) in the role of Michael’s love interest, Julie Nichols, Payton Reilly (Jersey Boys) as Michael’s ex-girlfriend Sandy Lester, and Don Farrell (A Christmas Story, Beautiful, It’s A Wonderful Life) in the role of the show’s director, Ron Carlisle. Also making their Beef & Boards debuts are Tyler Belo as Michael’s roommate Jeff Slater, and Matthew Rella as the self-absorbed actor Max Van Horn. All tickets include Chef Larry Stoops’ dinner buffet and select beverages. Tickets to Beef & Boards productions are available exclusively through Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, either online at beefandboards.com, or by contacting the box office at 317.872.9664. Third-party sellers are not authorized to offer tickets to Beef & Boards productions, and tickets purchased through sellers other than Beef & Boards may not be valid for Beef & Boards shows, and may incur additional fees. Tootsie is rated R for adult themes, language, and mature content.

Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre has been serving up food, fun and fabulous live entertainment for everyone since 1973. Located in College Park, the theatre was part of a chain of dinner theatres built by Louisville contractor J. Scott Talbott. It was called "Beef" because of the delicious hand carved roast beef served before the performances, and "Boards" referring to the boards or stage of a theatre. Today, the Indianapolis location is privately owned and the sole remaining Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, entertaining more than 155,000 theatergoers annually.
