The 19th World Dance Day Celebrations 2026, curated by Geeta Chandran and presented by Natya Vriksha, continues on Day 2 with the Yangshak Movement Workshop, facilitated by Imphal-based choreographer and contemporary performing artist Surjit Nongmeikapam, founder and artistic director of Nachom Arts Foundation. The workshop explores Yangshak — derived from "Yang" (spine/internal) and "Shak" (image/external) — rooted in the philosophy of Lairen Mathek and the stories and movements of Manipuri traditions, working with breath, impulse, weight shifting, momentum, the spine, and geometries. The day also features a panel discussion on AI & Dance: Challenges and Opportunities, led by Dr. Anita Ratnam with keynote speaker Madhu Nataraj, Director of STEM Dance Kampni, Bangalore, exploring the intersections of movement arts, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence. The evening's Young Dancers Festival presents Odissi by Vrinda Chadha and Kuchipudi by Avijit Das.
