Hunter Dance Center and Open Dance Project present a two-day workshop led by Stephanie Troyak, a former soloist with Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and currently the only US-based artist with permission to teach Pina Bausch repertoire. Participants will explore the unique language of Tanztheater through repertoire from iconic Bausch works such as Rite of Spring and Arien, focusing on her signature use of gesture, ritual, and repetition. The workshop also incorporates vocal elements, theatricality, and improvisation to encourage full-body storytelling and the embodiment of emotion and character. The workshop is recommended for professional, advanced, and pre-professional dancers ages 15 and up.
