Prague Shakespeare Presents MACBETH, Now thru 3/9

The Prague Shakespeare Company will present Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Main Street Theater will host the production at its Rice Village location. MST and PSC have co-produced Shakespeare's Henry V and Richard III during the past two seasons and both productions were critically acclaimed in Houston and in Prague.

Something wicked this way comes in Prague Shakespeare Company's Macbeth. "Blood will have blood" in this fast-paced, streamlined version of Shakespeare's classic tale of ambition, witchcraft and murder. The production is 80 minutes long with no intermission. Guy Roberts directs and plays Macbeth. There will be a discussion with the artists following the matinee on March 2.

Macbeth opens at Main Street Theater tonight, February 27 and runs through March 9 at MST - Rice Village, 2540 Times Blvd. At most performances, Guy Roberts will be playing Macbeth and Jessica Boone will be playing Lady Macbeth. At the March 1, March 5, and March 9 performances, however, David Wald will be playing Macbeth and Bree Welch will be playing Lady Macbeth. Performance dates and times are: Thursday, February 27 at 7:30pm, Friday, February 28 at 8:00pm, Saturday, March 1 at 5:00pm, Saturday, March 1 at 8:00pm, Sunday, March 2 at 3:00pm, Monday, March 3 at 7:30pm, Wednesday, March 5 at 7:30pm, Thursday, March 6 at 7:30pm, Friday, March 7 at 8:00pm, Saturday, March 8 at 8:00pm, Sunday, March 9 at 3:00pm, and Sunday, March 9 at 7:30pm Wald/Welch

Prague Shakespeare Company is Central Europe's only professional English-language Shakespeare company, presenting professional theatre productions, workshops, classes, lectures and other theatrical events, of the highest quality, by a multi-national ensemble of professional theatre artists, with an emphasis on the plays of William Shakespeare, bringing to the Czech Republic, European and World audiences English-language based performances that are fresh, bold, imaginative, thought-provoking, and eminently accessible, connecting the truths of the past with the challenges and possibilities of today.

This production premiered on November 7, 2013 in Prague, Czech Republic at Divadlo Kolowrat. Guy Roberts stars as Macbeth and appears along with Jessica Boone as Lady Macbeth, Charles Frederick Secrease as Macduff, Jeff Smith as Banquo, Jared Doreck as Malcolm, and Peter Hosking as Duncan. The Witches are Bree Welch, Celeste Roberts, David Wald, Ashe Kazanjian, Lily Chu, Eric Sammons, Julie Josephson, Vanessa Gendron, and Philip Hays. At select performances David Wald will play Macbeth, Bree Welch will play Lady Macbeth and Steve Zinkgraf will play Duncan with Elissa Levitt and Crystal O'Brien covering Wald's and Welch's witch roles.

The production is directed and designed by PSC Artistic Director Guy Roberts. Debs Ramser is the Production Stage Manager, Eric Sammons is the Assistant Stage Manager and Brian Hall is the Assistant Director. The production is designed by Eleni Podara, with lighting design by Johanna Mai-Vihalem and sound design by Jeff Fritz and Guy Roberts. Guy Roberts is the fight choreographer.
