Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods will run at the Main Street Theater - Rice Village, today, January 16 to February 16, 2014.
Into the Woods features Book by James Lapine and Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Directed by Andrew Ruthven with musical direction by Claudia Dyle.
Main Street's Rice Village theater is located at 2540 Times Blvd., Houston, TX 77005. The show will run Jan. 16 - Feb. 16, 2014 (Previews: Jan. 11, 12, and 15), playing Thursdays at 7:30pm; Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00pm; Sundays at 3:00pm.
SYNOPSIS: Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical re-imagined for a small cast and intimate stage. The story follows a Baker and his wife's wish to have a child, Cinderella's wish to attend the King's Festival, and Jack's wish that his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's spell, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results. In 1988, Into the Woods won Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical. Recommended for audiences 13 and up.
