For the famous choreographer Maurice Béjart dance is „total theatre“, not only steps. His masterpiece „Ring um den Ring“ is one of the most monumental ballet projects of the 20th century. Based on excerpts of Richard Wagner’s musical composition Maurice Béjart created his own comment, as he calls it, on the Nibelungen-Saga. Through his whole working life obsessed by the work of Richard Wagner he points out the underlying depth of the main characters in his staging, where he is connecting symbols with powerful dancing.
