Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce Kander and Ebb's 12-time Tony Award-winning musical, "Cabaret" as part of its 20th Anniversary Season. Playing in the Historic Arcade Theatre March 20 - April 11, 2017, "Cabaret" is a classic story of following your heart while the world loses its way, and includes some of the most memorable songs in theatre history, including "Cabaret," "Willkommen," and "Maybe This Time."

"I couldn't be more excited to announce 'Cabaret' as part of our 20th Anniversary season," said Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo, "but because of an ongoing national tour, we weren't allowed to tell our audiences until today! It truly is one of the great American musicals, and its story, its iconic score, and its characters have stood the test of time. Not only does it include some of the most beloved songs of the 20th century, but its message is as important today as it was 50 years ago."

The 1920s have drawn to a close, and in a seedy Berlin nightclub the master of ceremonies tells the audience to leave their troubles outside. With the Kit Kat Klub as the backdrop, "Cabaret"explores the dark and tumultuous lives of Berlin's natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Electrifying and harrowing, "Cabaret" follows an American writer in Berlin, his love affair with an English singer, Sally Bowles, and his journey of self discovery and awakening in a dangerous time.

"Cabaret" celebrated its 50th Anniversary last year with a third Broadway revival and subsequent national tour, and has won Tony Awards for Best, Musical, Best Revival, Best Score. The 1971 film adaptation starring Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey won a record 8 Academy Awards and was nominated for Best Picture.
