Roundabout Theatre Company's Theatrical Workforce Development Program (TWDP) Tech, established in 2016 in partnership with I.A.T.S.E., is a free, three-year paid fellowship that trains New York City residents ages 18-24 as theatre technicians. In year one fellows train at Roundabout in scenic carpentry, lighting, sound, and wardrobe at $17 per hour (about 25-29 hours a week) and are matched with program alumni and I.A.T.S.E. mentors; in year two they work as paid entry-level technicians at partner theatres and attend the USITT conference; in year three they transition into freelance work with continued support. Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent and U.S. work eligibility, and must attend an info session to receive the application link.
