The NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship is an $8,000 unrestricted cash grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts for artists aged 25 or older who have lived in New York State (or a Tribal Nation within it) for at least two years. Fifteen disciplines rotate on a three-year cycle; playwriting/screenwriting and choreography next come up in the 2028 cycle (applications fall 2027), and the award goes to originators of work rather than interpretive artists such as actors. The application is free and submitted through Submittable, with roughly 90 fellowships and 15 finalist awards made each year.
NY State residents (2+ years) age 25+; not full-time students; 15 disciplines rotate over 3 years (5 per year). Performance/interdisciplinary artists apply in Interdisciplinary Work when offered.
