BREAKDOWN
The Gett is a tale of the dirty and the divine, drawing on everything from the Torah to bad sex. It’s about the tacky menorah in your lobby behind the Christmas tree and the lover whose phone number you can’t forget and that voicemail from your mother you haven't listened to yet. As sacred as it is profane, this is a play about recreating a self. Herself.
SEEKING:
lBAAL - this character is JEWISH, portrayed as male, 20s-30s, charming with an edge, an inventor and a bad magician whose love turns from deeply romantic to vengeful, probably tall.
THE OTHER MAN - BIPOC, portrayed as male, 30s-40s, young and old at once, chameleon, guides Ida in many forms (boyfriend, rabbi, lawyer, one-night stand, customer) and advocates for truth, comfortable with accents.
MAMA - this character is JEWISH, portrayed as female, 50s-60s, loquacious, wise, hilarious, uncensored.
