50s-early 60s; Willy’s wife; even-tempered, utterly devoted to Willy, deeply buried emotions

BIFF LOMAN:

30s; Athletic, high school football star, now a drifter who has lost his way

HAPPY LOMAN:

Late 20s early 30s, the younger son; has always lived in his older brother’s shadow, compensates by pretending to be overly-confident, doesn’t know himself

CHARLEY:

50s to early 60s; The next door neighbor. Willy’s friend, a good man, practical, joker, a successful businessman

BERNARD:

30s, Charley’s son; a book-worm who later achieves success and confidence

BEN:

50s - 60s Willy’s older brother, rich, successful, confident, appears only in Willy’s memory

HOWARD WAGNER:

Mid-30s – Willy’s boss, practical, non-sentimental

THE WOMAN FROM BOSTON:

40s – Willy’s mistress, loud, gauche. Will understudy Linda Loman.

STANLEY

Mid 50s—early 60s: a waiter, friendly with the brothers, Will understudy Willy Loman.

MISS FORSYTHE and LETTA:

Late 20s – women, possibly call girls, who meet the brothers at a restaurant, attractive.
