For this production we will be casting 2 Billys who will alternate between playing Billy and Tall Boy/Posh Boy in the Ensemble.

Michael Caffrey – Male Identifying. 10-12 years old. Billy’s best friend. Doesn’t fit into the norm. Outspoken, opinionated and follows his own drum. Excellent tapper, good voice. Has tap and ballet experience.

Dad – Male Identifying. 45-60 years old. Working class, narrow minded, single parent who has a rough exterior but a big heart and deep love of his family. Constantly trying to do what is best for his family and his fellow union workers. Baritone.

Tony – Male Identifying. 20s-30s. Billy’s brother. Passionate and a hard line union miner. Disrespectful at times towards his father and does not initially approve of Billy’s love for dance. Baritone.

George – Male Identifying. 40-60 years old. A friend of Billy’s dad and the town’s boxing teacher. A working-class miner.

Mrs. Wilkinson – Female Identifying. 40-50 years old. The local ballet teacher who trains and ultimately tries to help give Billy a brighter future. Big energy, compassionate, but also firm and mouthy at times. Has dance experience. Mezzo Soprano.

Grandma – Female Identifying. 65+ years old. Billy’s grandmother who has been through a lot in her life. Good sense of humor and has a close relationship with Billy. Alto. ROLE CAST.
