UMS To Present Alec Baldwin In Dramatic Reading Of Arthur Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN
The University Musical Society (UMS) will present a dramatic reading of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman, featuring stage and screen actor Alec Baldwin in the lead role of Willy Loman on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 8 pm in Ann Abor's Power Center (121 Fletcher St). Baldwin will perform alongside student and faculty actors and directors from the University of Michigan's Department of Theatre & Drama. The reading will mark Baldwin's first time in the role. The performance is currently sold out, but those interested in attending can call the UMS Ticket Office at 734.764.2538 to ask to be put on an interest list.
In addition to Alec Baldwin, the cast includes Priscilla Lindsay, Eva Rosenwald, Leigh Woods, Alex Leydenfrost, and students from the U-M Department of Theatre & Drama. Daniel Cantor, U-M associate professor of theatre & drama, will direct. Other students from U-M's departments of Theatre & Drama and Musical Theatre will have the opportunity to interact with Baldwin at a private reception and Q&A session.
"It's one of our greatest pleasures to bring distinguished artists to the University of Michigan and create opportunities for them to interact with and perform alongside the students on campus," said UMS president Matthew VanBesien. "These unique and engaging experiences leave a lasting impression on students and help to inspire future generations of artists."
Playwright Arthur Miller graduated from the University of Michigan in 1938. A decade later, Death of a Salesman premiered on Broadway and went on to win both the 1949 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play.
