The Farmington Players Present GYPSY April 30 through May 22 at the Barn Theatre. The production is directed by Jason Wilhoite, with musical direction by Rachel Rose and choreography by Allison Soranno.

The cast of GYPSY features Rose Randall Warner at Mama Rose, Barry Cutler as Harbie, Rachel Biber as Louise, Amy Lauter as June, Russ Schwartz as Tulsa, Nina White as Baby June, Stephaney Vietor as Baby Louise, Loni Burkow as Tessie, Amy Poirier as Mazeppa and Brittany MacDonald as Electra.

GYPSY premiered on Broadway in 1959 with Ethel Merman as Mama Rose, the book is written by Arthur Laurents, the music by Jule Styne, and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The orignal production was nominated for 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Direction of A Musical by Jerome Robbins and Best Actress in a Musical by Ethel Merman. The subsequent 4 Broadway Revivals have won a total of 6 Tony Awards, and been nominated for 13 more. GYPSY is widly considered to be the perfect musical.

Since 1953, the Farmington Players have staged more than 180 different musicals, dramas, mysteries and comedies, all as a community theater with 100% volunteer membership. People from Farmington, Farmington Hills and beyond have come to recognize the group as a true community resource. Since the completion of its all-new, state of the art facility in 2003, the Farmington Players Barn Theater has expanded its mission, serving as the site for city-sponsored events such as youth theater camps in the summer, concerts with groups as varied as Blackthorn and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and as a meeting place for various groups.

Performances will be April 30, and May 1, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 at 8pm and May 2, 9 and 16 at 2pm. The Farmington Players Barn is located at 32332 West 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills

Tickets are available at farmingtonplayers.org or at the box office, (248) 553-2955. Tickets are $18 for adults, a group of 10 or more is eligible for a $2 off discount. Student tickets are $16. Tickets for all Thursday performances are $16.
