BoDeans are an acclaimed American roots rock band formed in Waukesha, Wisconsin in the early 1980s, built around the songwriting and distinctive voice of founding member Kurt Neumann. The band blends heartland rock, Americana, and anthemic guitar-driven storytelling, breaking through with their 1986 debut Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams, produced by T Bone Burnett. Their hits include Good Things, Idaho, Fadeaway, Only Love, and the Top 20 single Closer to Free, which served as the theme for the television series Party of Five. Celebrating 40 years in 2026, this marks their first performance at Des Moines Performing Arts since November 1993.
