October 24: Marilynne Robinson
November 2-3: Iowa City Song Project
November 8: The Klezmatics

In 1912, William and Etta Englert opened The Englert Theatre in downtown Iowa City. 100 years later, the Englert remains a vital part of downtown Iowa City. To honor the historic space and the unique role the theater plays in the Iowa City community, the Englert has organized special programming. From klezmer to a string quartet, the schedule features a wide array of artistic expression highlighting both local and national performers.

Following 2011's dazzling performance of Fritz Lang's Metropolis, Alloy Orchestra returns to Iowa City to perform their original score for F.W. Murnau's Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror on October 11. The celebrated Kronos Quartet also makes a return to Iowa City for their performance on October 18. Combining a spirit of fearless exploration with a commitment to expanding the range and context of the modern string quartet, Kronos has become one of the most celebrated and influential groups of our time. Wonderful singer and songwriter Rosanne Cash will perform on October 19. A testament of Iowa City's vibrant literary community, Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and essayist Marilynne Robinson will give a special reading on October 24. Finally, Grammy-award winning klezmer group The Klezmatics will perform selections from their album of Woody Guthrie songs, Wonder Wheel, on November 8.

Tickets are available now online at englert.org, or by calling the Englert Box Office at 319-688-2653.
