Denver Arts & Venues And MOTH Poetic Circus Present ALICE IN WONDERLAND: A CIRCUS ADVENTURE
Following the success of their productions at the University of Denver's Newman Center for Performing Arts, MOTH Poetic Circus has joined forces with Denver Arts & Venues to present Alice in Wonderland: A Circus Adventure at Ellie Caulkins Opera House Friday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m.
Combining circus, theater, dance, music and visual arts, MOTH strives to create works of arts that are innovative, evocative and of course, poetic. "Alice is the perfect story to tell through circus," says Deena Marcum Selko, MOTH Poetic Circus creator and artistic director. "All of the wacky characters, storylines, and visual poetry written by Lewis Carroll translate seamlessly into circus acts and personalities. The crazier the characters, the more dazzling and dynamic the circus. To bring this story to the next level through circus is truly a dream for an artistic director."
Audiences of all ages will marvel at Lewis Carroll's characters as they come to life in a stunning display of world-renowned acrobats, aerialists, jugglers and contortionists, many of whom have made appearances in "The Greatest Showman," NBC's "America's Got Talent," and productions of Cirque du Soleil. Accompanying the production of Alice in Wonderland: A Circus Adventure will be an original score performed live onstage by musician and composer Janet Guenther.
A portion of the proceeds for this performance will be donated to Adam's Camp Colorado, a non-profit organization that provides a variety of intensive, personalized and integrated therapeutic programs for children with special needs and their families.
