THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) (REVISED) (AGAIN) Will Embark on Tour From Delaware Shakespeare
Performances will run from Sept. 8-27, 2026.
Delaware Shakespeare will present The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) (revised) (again) on a statewide community tour from Sept. 8-27, 2026. Written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield and revised by Long and Jess Winfield, the production will be directed by Mariah Ghant. The rapid-fire comedy condenses all 36 of Shakespeare's plays into a performance running less than 100 minutes.
The production will use a three-actor format and will combine Shakespeare's tragedies, comedies and histories with physical comedy, pop-culture references and audience interaction. Delaware Shakespeare's community tour is designed for nontraditional performance spaces, including libraries, multipurpose rooms, cafeterias and outdoor venues. Live music, minimal scenery and available lighting will be incorporated into the performances.
The tour will begin with a pay-what-you-will preview at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Jefferson Street Center in Wilmington. Additional performances include a 5:30 p.m. outdoor presentation Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover; a free performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at Kent County Library in Dover; and a free performance at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Lewes Public Library. The tour will continue through Sept. 27, with the final performance scheduled for 5 p.m. at Rockwood Park & Museum in Wilmington.
The Sept. 27 performance at Rockwood Park will be presented on the South Lawn at 610 Shipley Road. Tickets start at $25 for that performance. The production is also scheduled for a Sept. 18 performance at Clear Space Theatre Company in Rehoboth Beach at 7 p.m., marking the tour's regular theater venue. Clear Space lists that performance as tickets on sale soon.
The Sept. 10 performance at the Biggs Museum is free, with the event presented outdoors, weather permitting. The Sept. 13 Kent County Library and Sept. 16 Lewes Public Library performances are also free. The Sept. 27 Rockwood Park performance is ticketed, with admission starting at $25.
