VTA Announces Auditions For BROADWAY HOLIDAY 11/17

Victoria Theatre Association is holding LIVE auditions November 17 from 4-7:30pm for the opportunity to sing on the Victoria Theatre stage with five Broadway stars in the Miami Valley and Good Samaritan Hospitals Broadway Series presentation of BROADWAY HOLIDAY this December 8-20, 2009. The auditions will be held in the Mathile Theatre at the Schuster Center. Each applicant must bring his or her own accompaniment or pianist; a CD player and piano will be available. The auditions will be video taped for judging purposes. All applicants must schedule an audition time by calling the Victoria Theatre at (937) 228-7591. No walk-ins.

Victoria Theatre Association will continue to offer online auditions as well. Each auditionee may upload a 90- to 120-second video of himself or herself singing a Broadway favorite to YouTube, Myspace or Facebook. The applicant may then upload his or her audition video using the online form found at www.VictoriaTheatre.com/BroadwayHolidayAuditions by Monday, November 16, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. (EST).

Neil Berg and other theatre professionals will narrow down the entries and then post the finalists on Victoria Theatre Association's YouTube page. The judges will review the audition videos to decide which lucky winners will get the chance to show off their singing skills in front of their family and friends on stage at the Victoria Theatre.

BROADWAY HOLIDAY is a brand new musical revue being created just for Dayton area audiences. It is a collaboration between Broadway composer/producer Neil Berg (Left Field Productions) and Victoria Theatre Association. Audition winners will have the unique opportunity to sing side by side with Broadway stars Norm Lewis (The Little Mermaid), Marc Kudisch (9 to 5), Carter Calvert (Ain't Nuthin But The Blues), Danny Zolli (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) and Rita Harvey (Fiddler on the Roof).

BROADWAY HOLIDAY includes timeless classics from South Pacific and Guys and Dolls to more contemporary hits from Chicago and Jersey Boys. The BROADWAY HOLIDAY song list is a greatest hits package liberally sprinkled with songs of the season coming from Broadway shows. This includes classics like "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "We Need a Little Christmas," "Happy Holidays," and "White Christmas."
