BWW Review: WHITE CHRISTMAS at La Comedia Dinner Theatre

Ready or not, Christmas is coming. Get yourself in the mood by taking some time to see WHITE CHRISTMAS at La Comedia Dinner Theatre.

WHITE CHRISTMAS, Music and Lyrics by Irving Berlin and Book by David Ives and Paul Blake, is based on the 1954 movie starring Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney. The show follows characters Bob Wallace and Phil Davis from entertaining the troops for the final Christmas of World War II and beyond as a chance encounter gives them an opportunity to use their fame to help their former General Waverly, a man for whom they have great respect and affection. Of course, you throw in some romance for Bob and Phil in the form of sisters, Betty and Judy Haines and everyone gets a happy ending just in time for Christmas.

Austin Adomits (Bob) and Caleb Michael (Phil) have beautiful voices and great charm making them likeable and endearing. They have not just an easy chemistry with each other but with their romantic partners, Mica Dominguez-Robinson (Betty) and Marjie Shrimpton (Judy Haynes). I enjoyed them all from beginning to end especially when there was tap dancing involved. I am a sucker for tap dancing.

Strong performances were also given by Chris Kramer as General Waverly along with some nice humor from Andrea Spencer Christiansen as the nosy Martha Watson. A very solid ensemble made the whole show come together. My favorite number (which happens to be one of my favorite all-time songs) was the finale of Act I, "Blue Skies".
