Tango Tribe

Tango Tribe LLC teaches Argentine tango in Austin, Texas, holding group classes and private lessons by appointment at its home studio in southwest Austin and at other venues by arrangement. Its teachers describe themselves as guides rather than instructors, rejecting a 'teacher tell, student do' model in favour of guided explorations and mind-body methods that help dancers find their own comfortable, creative range with a wide variety of partners. The three themes running through its coaching are connection with the music, energetic connection with oneself and one's partner, and creative exploration of movement. Tango Tribe also produces The Game of Argentine Tango (GoAT), a free online course of more than 110 lessons covering improvisation and musicality, and has hosted visiting-teacher workshops with figures such as Soledad, Christy Cote and Joaquin Amenabar, plus reference material on milonga codes, terminology and practice.
