Sussex Dance Academy

Sussex Dance Academy opened in Georgetown, Delaware in autumn 2002 and now operates from 18585 Coastal Hwy, Suite 20B in Rehoboth Beach, serving Sussex County. It teaches children from age 3 upward in classical ballet and pointe, pre-ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, acro and musical theatre, and is home to the Sussex Ballet Company. Instruction is structured around proper technique taught by professional dance educators, and the academy is explicit that the discipline and self-confidence gained matter regardless of whether a student pursues dance professionally. Placement is by level rather than age alone: Pre-Ballet I and Creative Dance take pre-K children of 3 to 4 after an evaluation class, and the upper Ballet 4/5 level is by director placement only and requires a minimum of three ballet classes a week. The studio also runs a summer camp.
