About this studio
The Sumter Civic Dance Company is the performing company attached to the Freed School of Performing Arts at 527 N. Guignard Drive in Sumter, South Carolina. The school says it is celebrating more than 70 years of instruction and builds a well-rounded curriculum emphasizing safety and discipline, training students in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical and gymnastics so they can continue with any instructor anywhere. Karate is also offered. The school stages a year-end recital, takes class pictures in recital costume each April, and sells flowers and gifts as a fundraiser for the company. A dancewear store, The Dance Box, operates inside the studio, stocking preschool through young adult sizes.
