Payne Academy of Ballet, directed by Jim and Bridget Payne, provides classical ballet training in The Woodlands, Texas, and describes its aim as offering a dance education rather than simply a recreational activity. Teaching follows a 'Whole Dancer' concept: the school holds that well-trained dancers need not only ballet skills and technique but also exposure to other art forms and dance disciplines. The curriculum is tiered into three tracks. The Children's Program covers ages 3 to 8 across five levels of ballet-based classes introducing and developing basic movement. The Academy Program for ages 8 and up forms the Fundamental levels, where the bulk of classical ballet vocabulary is taught.
