New Orleans School of Ballet

The New Orleans School of Ballet is a classical ballet school in uptown New Orleans, Louisiana, owned and artistically directed by Nikki Hefko. Hefko is a 2017-18 School of American Ballet National Visiting Fellow and an American Ballet Theatre Certified Teacher for Pre-Primary through Level 7 of the ABT National Training Curriculum, and previously taught and directed summer intensives at the Dance Theatre of Harlem School and Brooklyn Ballet, taught at The Joffrey Ballet School and lectured at Tulane University. Youth training runs from Pre-Ballet at ages 3 and 4 through Primary at 5 and 6, Preparatory Ballet from age 7, and graded Levels 1-7 from age 8, with placement classes required for the levelled work; the emphasis is on technique, alignment, strength, flexibility and musicality. Community classes serve teens and adults, including a six-week beginning ballet workshop and ongoing intermediate/advanced classes for adults 18 and over, priced per class or by ten-class card. Private instruction and studio rentals are also offered.
