Lafayette Ballet Theatre is a non-profit ballet company and school at 201 Petroleum Drive in Lafayette, Louisiana. Its Dance Conservatory offers challenging instruction for serious ballet students while introducing beginners to classical dance, organized into Children's, Student and Advanced Divisions with entry by placement class or audition. Classes include ballet technique, pointe, variations, creative movement, modern and conditioning, plus ADEPT, an Adaptive Dance Education and Therapy Program. Year-round training is supplemented by a summer program in August. Productions pair international guest artists and locally contracted dancers with area youth; a full-length story ballet is staged each spring, and The Nutcracker each December involves more than 140 local students.
Pacific Northwest Ballet will be bidding an adieux passionnés to principal dancers Jerome Tisserand and Laura Tisserand at the end of the company’s 2020-2021 season: The couple have announced that they will be leaving Seattle this summer, to accept positions with Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo.
