Dance Alliance of The Pikes Peak Region

The Dance Alliance of the Pikes Peak Region (DAPPR) is a Colorado Springs 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the current evolution of Colorado Springs Dance Theatre, which has promoted dance in the region since 1977. Founded by Barbara Kline and a group of volunteers, the organization is primarily a presenter rather than a teaching studio: it has hosted more than 117 touring companies including Dance Theatre of Harlem, Paul Taylor, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Martha Graham Dance Company, Ailey II and SALT Contemporary. Alongside presenting, it supports young dancers through masterclasses, performance opportunities and the Esther Geoffrey Scholarship Competition, which has granted over $58,000 in tuition aid. Its PIVOT program brings live professional dance to middle and high school students, and it partners with local studios and school districts on dance education, after-school and summer camp programming. It is based at The Movement Gallery in downtown Colorado Springs.
