About this studio
Dancing with Heidi is a one-teacher dance school in Sacramento, California, run by Heidi, who specializes in ballet but draws on the range of dance forms she has studied and performed. Her stated approach is that everyone can learn to dance and enjoy it regardless of age, background or experience, and that a diverse classroom makes for richer learning. Classes are split into children's and adult/teen tracks, with children's classes pitched to be developmentally appropriate and some requiring an adult caregiver to attend. Each student receives individual attention, and the studio is explicitly non-competitive and body positive. Students are never pressured to perform, but dancers of all ages may take part in the annual showcase. Classes are held at two rented Sacramento venues: Borne Arts Collective, formerly Dance 10, on 57th Street, and the Sierra 2 Center for the Arts and Community on 24th Street.
