About this studio
Ballet des Ameriques / Carole Alexis Dance Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2011 by director and choreographer Carole Alexis. It runs both a professional multicultural dance company and a pre-professional ballet conservatory, with studios at 31 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains, New York, in the ArtsWestchester building, and a second base in New York City, where it is the first resident company of Teatro LATEA at The Clemente Center. The company presents Alexis's choreography, rooted in the cultures of the African Diaspora, and created the Dancing Caravan Project, a portable outdoor dance theatre for community performances. Conservatory students have gone on to schools including the Paris Opera Ballet School, The Royal Ballet School and Juilliard.
